The addition to and renovation of a 1976 log cabin overlooking the Hudson Valley which is a beloved weekend and summer getaway for a couple from Brooklyn, New York.

The challenges in adapting the original log structure and yielding to a Northern Western exposure became evident early on in the project. By extruding the shape of the existing cabin and establishing a connection that is set back from the front facade, we were able to seamlessly merge materials, structure and thermal envelope between old and new under one continuous roof while preserving views through high performance windows.
